Chenrezig is the Tibetan name for Avalokiteshvara. Chenrezig is one of the most celebrated bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara in Mahayana Buddhism. He is the Lord who refrain from entering the blissful state of Nirvana and remain on earth to save the creature of the earth. This devotion to the salvation of others emphasizes the profound compassion. Chenrezig is considered the patron bodhisattva of Tibet, and his meditation is practiced in all the great lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. Some of the most respected meditation masters who are considered living Buddhas like Dalai Lama are also believed to be emanations of Avalokiteshvara. Avalokiteshvara made a vow that he wouldn’t rest until he had liberated all the beings in all the reals of suffering.
